NKPR Film Festival Guide: Beauty and Fashion

Posted on

Film festival season is definitely one of our favourites here at NKPR, and between all the star sightings at the IT Lounge Portrait Studio, industry parties and film screenings there’s never a dull moment!

We may not have a wardrobe, hair and makeup team to get us red carpet styled each day, but we’ll be ready to brush elbows with the likes of Keira Knightley and Bradley Cooper with help from our trusted fashion and beauty favourites.

Festival-Worthy Style

RW&CO.: From media tours and interviews, to A-list parties and international premiers, the chic style finds for men and women from RW&CO. will have us covered.

Lia Sophia: Glamorous gems are a must-have to elevate that little black dress for a night among the stars. Celebrities and the NKPR team alike are sure to be sporting the latest in statement necklaces, cocktail rings and embellished earrings.

Fila: When we have a few hours to spare in between the festival schedule it’s all about sportswear chic. You’ll find us strolling Bloor-Yorkville after brunch in the latest from this Italian heritage brand.

A-List Beauty

Stila: We might be sticking to an all-black wardrobe for the next 10 days, but our lips will be bright and beautiful with our selection of Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in pigment-packed shades.

Goody: Most celebrities spend hours getting their hair primped before a premiere, but when you’ve got a full day’s work at the office to put in before that gala screening Goody’s Spin Pins will come to your hair rescue.

Tweezerman: We like to keep a pack of Matchbox Itty Bitty Nail Files in our clutch when we can’t make it to the nail salon before an event. You never know when you’ll be shaking hands with the hottest star of the festival!

Kiehl’s: When the late to bed and early to rise festival routine starts to take it’s toll on our skin we rely on Abyssine Eye Cream+ to ensure we’ll be ready for our run-in with Mr. Gosling even if we’re running on four hours of sleep.

Ardell Lashes: Being red-carpet ready is all about the details, and a pair of eye-framing lashes will go a long way when you’re trying to catch the attention of Ben, Ryan and Hugh.

NKPR Film Festival Outfit Outtakes

Posted on

Film festival is quickly approaching, and we’ve been spending our—almost non-existent—free time planning the most important part of the madness: our outfits! The NKPR team has a staple PR wardrobe in black (surprise, surprise!), but we’ve been getting some serious inspiration in the accessory and footwear departments.

Check out our festival must-haves: we’ve got our leopard prints, our bright soles and neon gems to elevate the all-black everything… so we hope Ryan Gosling likes Dannijo!

Natasha’s Pick: YSL Booties in Purple Suede

“Despite my all-black wardrobe, I love to have fun with colourful shoes! These sky-high booties are perfect for film festival since they can be paired with either a skirt or pants. Ideal for any last-minute wardrobe changes!”

Kristin’s Pick: RW&CO. Black Peplum

“With a peplum detail, this classic LBD from RW&CO. needs no extra accessory! “

Kaley’s Pick: Charlotte Olympia Leopard Platforms

“I can always count on my leopard Charlotte Olympia platforms to add a cheeky punch of personality to an all black outfit.”

Daniela’s Pick: DANNIJO Statement Necklace

“A bold and bright necklace like this one from DANNIJO is how I get around the all black dress code during TIFF.”

Rebecca’s Pick: Nicholas Kirkwood x Erdem Printed Ankle Boots

“The best way to jazz up an all-black outfit is with a great pair of heels. I am partial to a chunky boot, so I’m really into these Kirkwood for Erdem printed ankle boots.”

Alice’s Pick: Proenza Schouler PS11 Colorblock Clutch

“I’ve been coveting this PS11 clutch for so long, and now I finally have an excuse for a super bright accessory to liven up the all black TIFF gear I’ll be living in!”

Michelle’s Pick: Goody DoubleWear Elastics/Bracelets

“I can’t live without my DoubleWear hair elastics/bracelets!! I stack the silver ones on my wrist until it’s time for my hair to go up.”

Sam’s Pick: Lia Sophia Versaille Necklace in Black Diamond

“I love the sparkle and glam factor that this piece adds to just about any outfit!”

Bunmi’s Pick: Jeffrey Campbell Platform Booties

“I am embracing my height this film festival. Am I PR? Or am I a star?  Hmmmmm…”

Elton John, Scissor Sisters to perform at M·A·C VIVA GLAM Fashion Cares 25

Posted on

With September approaching, we’ve been busy gearing up for all the star-studded events of  film festival! One of the year’s best lineups? The M·A·C VIVA GLAM Fashion Cares 25 gala featuring performances by Elton John, Janelle Monáe and Scissor Sisters as well as appearances from hosts Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared2 and Linda Evangelista. And don’t forget Jeanne Beker and co-chairs David Furnish and Michael King!

Although anyone would be starstruck by the guest list alone, the glamorous invitees are just one part of an amazing initiative: all ticket sales benefit Canadian HIV/AIDS foundations nationwide as distributed through the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) as well as the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF).

Along with the glittery stage, there will be a quarter-century retrospective that highlights 25 of the show’s  most glamorous and show-stopping looks. As well, a striking selection from the costume archives of Elton John will be on display.

Get your tickets on Ticketmaster. All ticket purchases make a substantial contribution to the efforts of ACT and EJAF and are eligible for a tax receipt, so this is one fashion expense is one you won’t feel guilty about!

Celebrating 10 Years of NKPR

Posted on

“Sometimes the little things you don’t think are anything while they’re happening turn out to be what marks a whole period of your life.” – Andy Warhol

When choosing a quote to encapsulate the past ten years, I think Andy Warhol said it best. All of the little moments throughout the years have really defined NKPR and who we are!

On Wednesday night, I had the amazing opportunity to celebrate a decade of my life and business with some of my closest friends, incredible staff and inspiring clients.

The theme of the night was “Love & Candy”, and I have to say, you could really feel the love! Although we had over 250 guests, the atmosphere felt intimate. Looking around my backyard was like looking into an NKPR time capsule. Everyone that attended has made NKPR into what it is today and impacted my life in so many ways.

As for the candy portion of the night, my favourite store Petite & Sweet – now featured on the Food Network’s “Sugar Stars” – created a stunning sweet table for the event. Not only did it feature some amazing treats like brownies, cupcakes, chocolate and candy, it also displayed my favourite quotes about love, written in chalk above the sweets. The table was the focal point of the party and Petite & Sweet did an amazing job of capturing the theme!

“Love doesn’t make the world go ‘round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.” – Franklin P. Jones

After such a special night, I want to take this opportunity to truly thank all of the people who have been present throughout the past 10 years, particularly my dedicated staff. You exceed my expectations and inspire me daily.  All of our little (and big) moments together have really marked a period in my life and made NKPR exceptional!

I believe that true success in life, is being surrounded by people you love, that also love you back. At the end of the evening, I crawled into bed after marking this 10- year milestone and felt an incredible sense of happiness, peace and achievement because of the amazing people I know and love.

Thank you for all of your support!

XO

Natasha

Looking for a refreshing alternative to the typical syrupy sweet drinks of summer? We suggest an Aperol cocktail… or two!  [Chatelaine]

Speaking of refreshment, Bottle Green is a delightful sparkling water from the UK, naturally sweetened with handpicked flowers and fresh-pressed fruits. Martha Stewart approved!    [Toronto Sun]

Sandal season demands a pretty pedicure and essie’s got the perfect shades for summer! Cheeky names are essie‘s trademark… We think we’ll try “bikini so teeny”!   [Toronto Standard]

Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival is one of our favourite cultural events in the city! Our favourite exhibit of 2012? Jill Greenberg’s Glass Ceiling. Beautiful and thought-provoking.   [National Post]

When it comes to summer fashion… we love it all! Striped lacy tee from Rachel Rachel Roy? Yes please.  [Chatelaine]

Bold prints are all the rage this season! We love this scenic tank from Mendocino and bright floral printed skirt from Jones New York!  [Flare Magazine]

Picnic couture? We are going bananas over this yellow button-down from RW&CO!  [Fashion Magazine]
