RW&CO. brings Spring to NKPR!

Posted on

Last week, we held a media preview event for RW&CO.’s spring and summer Special Occasions Collection (plus some pieces from RW&CO.’s upcoming summer line) in our office. As we’ve experienced with the 2010 IT Lounge, our space can be transformed into anything we can imagine, and the RW&CO. event was further proof of that! Here’s the before:

And the after:

RW&CO.’s first ever line of bridal party wear, with dresses, suits and accessories that flatter a range of figures and give brides the freedom to mix and match across the entire line. And each unique look is priced at under $100! So while the space looked fabulous, the Special Occasions Collection was the real star!

The best birthday

Posted on

How lucky am I? Last night, my team threw me a surprise 40th birthday party in the screening room at The Hazelton Hotel! It was beyond amazing! Wonderful friends + candy bar + cake = one happy Birthday Girl! Here are my top five favourite moments from the night:

1. The surprise factor! I had no idea this party was going to happen.

2. The mauling of my birthday cake (see below). There were six girls and four forks. It was the best cake EVER!

3. The fortune teller. He was more popular than I was! ☺

4. Birkin bag and Louboutin cookies!:

5. And the most incredible part was… well… I’ll start crying (or laughing!) if I try to describe it, so just click here to see it for yourself!

Thanks to my team and my wonderful friends for helping me celebrate! And a BIG thank you to Jeannette for organizing the entire night (and directing the movie)!

Behind the scenes!

Our office was abuzz this week with celebrities! While NKPR is obviously a great place to hang out for any reason 🙂 the stars came in to shoot public service announcements for At My Best. Here they are in action:

Celebrity chef Anthony Sedlak practicing his lines to perfection. (If anyone knows about healthy eating, it’s him!)

Tessa Bonhomme, member of the Canadian Women’s Gold Medal Winning National Hockey Team, proves that she’s a pro on the ice and in front of the camera.

Jennifer Botterill, Tessa’s teammate (and a three-time Olympic gold medallist!), talks about the importance of children’s health while the director looks on.

Tracy Moore, host of CityLine, was kind enough to let us film in heroffice at Citytv! (That’s Katy holding up the cue cards.)

At home with Essie

Posted on

Yesterday, I was beyond excited to have a beauty legend in my home! Essie Weingarten, the founder of essie—the go-to colour-obsessed nail brand. She was in Toronto for the first time ever to speak with media about the February 8th launch of her brand at Shoppers Drug Mart. It was an amazing day full of colour and quality girl time! We started out atBreakfast Television where Essie was interviewed by Dina Pugliese. Here’s a photo of her on set with Dina and Kevin Frankish:

At an event in my home later in the day, media had the chance to meet with Essie and have a sneak peek at the new essie spring collection for Shoppers Drug Mart, “French Affair.” Media got pampered with a mini-manicure and learned about essie’s customized nail care line, which includes base coats, cuticle products and top coats. Here are some of my favourite photos of the day:

It was a perfect day for a colourholic like me!

P.S. Look for essie’s French Affair collection at Shoppers Drug Mart on February 8!

NKPR Weekend Wrap Up!

Posted on

Unlike many people, I actually enjoy Monday mornings because I love finding out what everyone got up to on the weekend. Since I’m out of the office today, though, I missed all the catching up! So I sent an e-survey around the office —what exciting and boring things did you do this weekend? — and now I’m up to speed! Here’s what my staff was doing on their days off:

Kristin
Exciting: I went to Ikea to buy new furniture!
Boring: I assembled the furniture from Ikea.

Sarah
Exciting: I moved!!!
Boring: I waited around for the cable guy.

Nicole
Exciting: Listened to great jazz Sunday night at The Emmet Ray (bar on College and Ossington)
Boring: In bed by 11 pm on Saturday with a bout of winter inertia!!

Andrea
Exciting: I saw Blue Valentine. Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling’s performances are incredible. Claustrophobic. Depressing. Wonderful.
Boring: The woman next to me in the movie. She kept asking me stupid questions the whole time. So annoying.

Jenna
Exciting: Took my dog for a long walk and played in the snow!!!
Boring: Went to see Little Fockers. This movie wasn’t as bad as everyone said it would be, but it certainly wasn’t epic.

Marissa
Exciting: Ate yummy coconut shrimp and sweet potato fries at The Rushton.
Boring: Unpacked from my trip/reorganized my closet.

Lisa
Exciting: I got to spend all day Sunday doing whatever I wanted (TV watching, drinks with friends) because I didn’t have to study for my GMAT anymore!
Boring: Wrote my GMAT.

Aimee
Exciting: Celebrated an old friend’s birthday over several glasses of red wine.
Boring: Was in bed and asleep at 9 p.m. on Sunday night because of the previous night’s celebrations.

Emily
Exciting: I went to Costco for the first time!
Boring: See above.

Rebecca
Exciting: I tried my very first yoga class.
Boring: I watched the movie The House Bunny.

Bunmi
Exciting: I continued to feed my costume drama mini-series obsession and I started watching Downton Abbey.
Boring: Making a chocolate chip banana loaf that exploded in my oven.

As for me
Exciting: Eating my way through Paris, France (croissants and desserts) and shopping at John Richmond.
Far less exciting: Gaining weight from being in Paris.

Pre-Paris shopping

Posted on

I have one more sleep until I leave for Paris and I’m so excited! I did something in preparation for my trip that some of you may find surprising: I went shopping for Paris but not in Paris. Here’s what I bought. In dresses, I picked up two from Miu Miu, one from Jil Sander and a sweater dress from Pringle of Scotland, all in black of course. For jackets, I chose an Elizabeth and James overcoat and a gorgeous piece with leather sleeves from The Row. The boxing day (week? month?) sales were amazing on Net-a-Porter and Shopbop so I couldn’t resist. I also bought a super cute cap from Chanel and some amazing Fendi boots. See?

Can’t you picture me walking up the Champs-Élysées in this outfit? (I also have some Converse sneakers that I’ll be taking with me just in case, but I really am determined to do the entire trip in heels.)

It may seem sort of backwards to do so much shoppingbefore I get to one of the shopping capitals of the world, but it is Paris, after all. You have to step it up fashion-wise or I’m pretty sure they don’t let you in the country. ☺

I’ll be tweeting while I’m away, of course, so follow me herefor an inside peek at my adventure in the City of Lights. And tweet me your suggestions for things to see and do—restaurants, unique sights and, of course, shopping!

Christmas came early for these five lucky winners of the Get Snackin’ Twitter Contest:

  • Renee (Waterford, ON)
  • Jutta (Westbank, BC)
  • Brad (Indian Head, SK)
  • Roberta (Richmond Hill, ON)
  • Pat (Victoria, BC)

They each won a holiday supply of Wonderful Pistachios! As you can see, we’ve been wrapping up the boxes today. The pistachios are so delicious that, to be honest, we’re a little bit sad to see them go. 🙂

Hostess gifts with the mostess

Posted on

I think I have about 15,000 different holiday parties to go to this year so it’s tough to come up with unique host/hostess gifts every time. You probably have the same problem, right? I mean, who needs another re-gifted fondue set? So I asked around the office and gathered together these ideas that will work for almost every host or hostess. It’s my gift to you. ☺

For the host you want to kiss under the mistletoe… Kiehl’s famous lip balms in four amazing limited edition flavours: cranberry, mango, vanilla and coconut.

For the host you know will share…
An orange cranberry cheesecake and white chocolate strawberry yule log from Baker Street.

For the host with the perfect ‘do…
The Goody Styling Solutions gift set.
For the host who loves to snack…
A basketful of Wonderful Pistachios in Roasted Salted and Salt & Pepper.
For the host who always makes the perfect toast…
The three bottles every at-home bartender needs: Aperol,Campari and SKYY Vodka.

Happy Holidays!
