Toronto Fashion Week: NKPR's Top SS15 Picks

Posted on

Oh Toronto Fashion Week…that glorious time of year when the city dives deep into the fashion world and comes out a little more polished and way more fab! As usual NKPR was wrapped up in fashion all week long, whether in the audience at Christopher Bates, backstage with Mikhael Kale or on the runway with Rudsak. Even though Toronto Fashion Week is over, we’ve still got the fashion fever!

We’ve rounded up some of our top looks from our favourite designers that rocked the runway last week at David Pecault Square…

Christopher Bates

Contemporary menswear designer, Christopher Bates, showcased his Spring/Summer 2015 collection on the runway at the Fashion Week last Wednesday. Pulling inspiration from The English Patient, the collection featured whites, khakis and sand hues reminiscent of the desert landscapes seen in the film. The collection is bright yet sophisticated and edgy, capturing a safari-resort vibe that will no doubt have people planning their next retreat down south.

Rudsak

Rudsak unveiled it’s Spring/Summer 2015 Collection, the new era of cool, last week at Toronto Fashion Week. Entering it’s 21st year, Rudsak paired the brand’s notorious rocker leather pieces with sport chic-inspired street-wear, creating an innovative and edgy look, perfectly embodying all that is cool. The collection, comprised primarily of Rudsak’s traditional black pieces, featured accents of oranges, reds and whites that, along with the athletic accessories, perfectly brought the collection together.

Mikhael Kale

As one of the most highly-anticipated shows at Toronto Fashion Week, Mikhael Kale’s Spring/Summer 2015 Collection was nothing short of amazing. The unique, dynamic collection featured pieces with provocative cutouts, hand-dyed organza, crystal beading and clear latex showcasing Kale’s unique ability to highlight the female form. Kale’s inventive and inspiring designs wrapped up Fashion Week on the ultimate high note and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!

Looks we love: World MasterCard Fashion Week

Posted on

It’s the moment the Toronto fashion scene has been waiting for…Day One of World MasterCard Fashion Week set the stage for an incredible 5 days of F/W ’14 runway shows! One thing is certain: Less is more for Fall ’14. From the ‘no-makeup’ look at Mikhael Kale to the subtle ombre essie nails worn on the LINE Knitwear runway, we were left in awe after both Day One shows. Fuchsia pink is BIG for fall, as seen in the beautiful oversized shapes at LINE Knitwear and abundance of brights on the Mikhael Kale runway. We’re sharing our favourite looks and beauty trends spotted at WMCFW…enjoy!

DAY ONE

Mikhael Kale

Grommets, bold prints, unique textures & bright hues made for a stunning runway show.

LINE Knitwear

LINE Knitwear’s collection wowed the crowd; the combination of luxurious fabrics, rich fuchsias and dynamic shapes channelled the epitome cozy chic!

Rita Remark reflected the ombre look woven throughout the collection with a subtle ombre nail. The essie  ‘Bobbing for Baubles’ and ‘St. Tropez’ shades were a winning combo.

DAY TWO

David Dixon

We loved the ethereal look at David Dixon; the lace, feminine fabrics and abundance of pearls created a unique, ‘Alternative Bride’ look!

Rita Remark nails it again with essie Blanc, Limo-Scene and Fiji that perfectly compliments the abundance of white on the runway.

DAY THREE

Pink Tartan

That fur! We loved the contemporary Canadian collection..plaids, winter whites and cozy turtlenecks dominated the runway.

Such a classic look! Rita Remark opted for a winter-y, feminine nail to compliment Pink Tartan’s Canadian-Heritage inspired collection…we love that Vanity Fairest shade!

Joe Fresh

We can always count on Joe Fresh to showcase cool, edgy yet elegant looks. What’s so great about these pieces is their ability to showcase runway style at an affordable price.

DAY FOUR

Rudsak

The excitement over the Rudsak collection was palpable; the looks were edgy with the classic chic Rudsak touches – fur detailing, fantastic hats and signature leather pieces. One of the most memorable moments of the show was DJ/model Harley Viera-Newton closing the show!

Fashion Week Recap

Posted on

Toronto’s World MasterCard Fashion Week kicked off last week showcasing fashion and beauty looks for Fall/Winter. It was such an amazing week in fashion! From attending shows, hosting a fashion week pop-up and spending time with a beauty icon, the NKPR team did it all!

We were incredibly excited to meet beauty icon and essie cosmetics founder, Essie Weingarten for the second time! In town for Fashion Week, we hosted a meet & greet at our office where she shared her amazing nail tips, as well as some of the upcoming essie collections! She has such an amazing presence and the best nail advice! (Check out her tips for newsprint nails via The Huffington Post Canada)

In celebration of Fashion Week, essie held a pop-up nail bar in the NKPR office. (Talk about convenience!)  Guests received a free express essie manicure by Tips Nail Bar and were treated to some of the new collections including Wedding and Poppy-Razzi neons! Beverages were provided by DAVIDsTEA. We love their refreshing and delicious spring collection!

Essie nails were all the rage on the runway, showcasing nail trends at Lucian Matis, Soia & Kyo, Pink Tartan, Ezra Constantine, Rad Hourani and Travis Taddeo! Gothic glamour at Chloe Comme Paris was complemented by essie nails in Wicked with a lace design on top!

The Spoke Club hosted their own Fashion Week shows featuring Missoni, Chanel, Celine and Alexander McQueen! Beauty looks were created by Stila Cosmetics, Ardell Lashes and essie polish. Guests at the shows were gifted with these beauty must-haves and Ardell created a pop-up lash bar treating all of the attending ladies to luscious lashes for the night!

Kicking off the evening, SKYY Vodka cocktails were served to guests at The Spoke Club including the Ardell “Wink” cocktail and the Stila “Sweetart” cocktail!

Meanwhile during Toronto’s Fashion Week, fine jeweller Classic Creations was off to another iconic fashion event in Switzerland. Baselworld is the largest international watch and jewellery show in the industry. Highlights included the yet-to-be released news on the new ladies Ebel line! (We can’t wait to hear!)  A classic favourite, Chanel also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the first Chanel watch by unveiling this gorgeous Première Flying Tourbillon!
